The School of Teacher Education and Leadership at Utah State University provides teacher preparation programs in gifted and talented education in order to develop educators who have the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to provide high quality services in a variety of settings to diverse individuals with unique gifts and talents. Qualifying to teach the gifted and talented also frequently requires a master’s degree specific to teaching advanced learners. The TAG Endorsement allows teachers to work with gifted students of any age, even if their certification is for a specific age group. An internship and research project are typically incorporated in master’s programs in gifted and talented education.
