The population of the two islands is 2,500 with the majority of the population living together in Wurrumiyanga – The town where you disembark the ferry. We are happy to announce that our Tiwi Islands ferry will be running between Darwin and Cullen Bay from the 5th of June. Ferries to Tiwi Islands. Comprising Melville, Bathurst and 9 smaller uninhabited islands, the indigenous people have occupied the Tiwis for almost 7,000 years. Known as ‘the islands of smiles’, the Tiwi Islands sit 80km north of Darwin, Australia. Grab a coffee and a snack and sit back in either the air-conditioned cabin or outdoor sundeck. Conducting up to 14 daily return ferry services to Mandorah and operating three times a week to the Tiwi Islands, SeaLink will look after you on our state-of-the-art, high-speed catamarans.

Departing two to three times a week, catch the ferry to the Tiwi's from Cullen Bay Ferry Terminal just 5 minutes from Darwin's city centre. This is operated by Sealink ferries, which provides a high-speed service for you all the way to Wurrumiyanga in the Tiwi Islands. At this moment in time, there is only one ferry service available to the Tiwi Islands, which currently runs from Cullen Bay in Darwin.
